Here are videos of the Forest Service meeting in Yellow Pine discussing the closing of Stibnite Road and the new Midas Project at Stibnite.

Considering that it was Monday and many people couldn’t attend due to work schedules, attendance was still surprisingly high.

All in all the majority of the town of Yellow Pine supports the Midas Gold Project, with the exception of the closure of Stibnite Mine Road.

Many people in town feel that Sugar Creek Road should be opened to public travel to mitigate the expected 20 plus year closing of Stibnite Mine Road.

The Burnt Log Road alternative proposed eliminates snowmobile opportunities to Thunder Mountain in the winter, and makes the trip from Yellow Pine impossible in the summer without carrying extra fuel, due to the added mileage. This will severely and negatively impact already struggling businesses in Yellow Pine.

Most of the people in the town of Yellow Pine are opposed to the closure of Stibnite Mine Road.

Another viable option people in Yellow Pine say they would be in favor of is a series of temporary roads across Stibnite Mine as old roads get continually phased out.

The videos of the public discussion are in eight parts below, due to time constraints and for ease of use.

The 45-day scoping period will run from June 5 to July 20, during which time the USFS will encourage and collect feedback from the public. Meetings for the public to learn more about the project will be held in late June in Cascade, McCall and Boise, Idaho. Officials at the USFS launched a website to collect public comments at
