Atlanta Snow Run – FEB’19

On Feb02, IOR took 40 rigs up to Atlanta ID to the Beaver Lodge for lunch.
Much of the snow at the lower altitudes had melted but once above 4,000′, we were well and truly snow-wheelin’.

While, the smooth bits of dirt road between cavernous pot-holes were a welcomed rare treat, the Ada-County bits of the trail to Atlanta are the biggest influence on teaching me the value of airing-down tires. Seriously, your back will thank you. Your Kidneys and bladder will name their first born sons after you. Big fluffy 4×4 tires ain’so fluffy w/ 40PSI. You’ll be gob-stopped over how much better 15PSI feels. –easily worth the price of an ARB or VIAIR pump.

No rain, no new snow fall, & mostly clear skies made for a typical and breathtakingly beautiful ride up to Atlanta. And while the group got split into two, this actually made it much easier on the Beaver Lodge to accommodate and feed two smaller groups vs 40 rigs of hungry drivers.
NOTE-TO-FUTURE-SELF: 2×20 & 30-45min apart is a good thing.

  1. Thanks for the recap.
Our friends at the Beaver Lodge were prepared for us with two options. With few exceptions, everyone was seated, served, and out the door with no waiting.
You forgot to mention that the local Volunteer Fire Department was out on the roadway collecting donations. I wonder if they do the same thing to the snowmobile riders? No worries, the small towns never have enough funding.
I’m already looking forward to next year. https://idaho4x4.com/event/visit-atlanta-snow-run-2020/
