Exploratory Run near Hemingway Butte

Aaron would like to do an exploration trail run out in the Owyhee’s.  For those on the Glow Worm during the past Rocket Run, this will be a continuation of the trail that bested us in the rain.  I’m hopeful the off-camber slick mud will not be an issue.

Aaron plans to meet in the Hemingway Butte camp parking lot (Rocket Run base camp) Saturday morning 8:30am with an aired-down pullout at 0900.  He plans to stop at the highest point on the trail for brunch, plan your meal and bring chairs for at least an hour or so before heading down the trail.

As an option, if we have enough participants, we may split at the trail junction and have another group take the right path down to the Kane Springs trail to swing around to our endpoint.  The left group will likely follow the backtrack path of the right group if time and trail conditions allow.  That way, neither group will miss a section.

Due to the unknown trail features, I’m limiting this to a minimum 35” tires, rear locker and recovery points or winch.

Looking at the map, it appears the trail will lead to the top of the mountain that I was trying to get to for the repeater location.  Only backwards  towards my intended route.
