IOR4x4 Run Categories

IOR adventures are described using 5 categories. Each builds on the prior. Every event will have specific requirements, yet this list is the guide for trail rating.

[SCENIC] Suitable for high clearance 2WD most times and 4WD in adverse conditions. Roads are maintained and generally considered to be in good condition. Moab rating of 1 or 2.

[TRAIL – EASY] Suitable for Stock Wrangler or equivalent. 4WD HI may be needed at times. Obstacles could include mud, loose rocks, dirt and sand, eroded roadways, and rock steps as high as 12 inches. 4WD and tow points required. Moab rating of 3 or 4.

[TRAIL – HARD] Suitable for Modified Wrangler or equivalent. 4WD HI will be needed; 4WD LO may be needed. Obstacles could include deep mud, water deeper than 18 inches, rock steps as high as 36 inches, and washed out roads. Tow points, 33″ or larger tires, a locker (or 2), enhanced suspension, and above average driving skills are required. Moab rating of 5 or 6.

[ROCK] Suitable for Highly Modified Wrangler or equivalent. 4WD LO will be needed. Obstacles could include large and loose rocks, sand, or wet rocks. Steps will often exceed 48 inches with frequent steep inclines and declines. Tow points, 35″ or larger tires, lockers front and rear, enhanced suspension and ground clearance, and excellent driving skills are required. A winch is recommended. Moab rating of 7 or 8.

[BUGGY] Suitable for Purpose Built rigs only. DAMAGE IS EXPECTED on most vehicles. Roll-overs are common. Obstacles could include steps over 60 inches, vertical climbs and descents, extreme off-camber sections, and winch-passable only areas. Tow points, winch, 37″ or larger tires, lockers front and rear, extreme suspension and ground clearance, and excellent driving skills are required. Moab rating of 9 or 10.
